5 Things to Consider Before Booking Your Makeup Artist
Updated: Aug 7, 2020
Recently engaged? Looking for the perfect look for your family pictures? Searching for someone to make you and your squad glam on your big day? Choosing a makeup artist can be tricky! You want to find someone experienced, warm, and (most importantly) dedicated to creating a custom look that makes YOU feel confident. Here are 5 things to consider before booking your perfect makeup artist!
1. Location
When you google "makeup artists near me," it's important to consider more than just reviews! Look for someone within comfortable driving distance from you or your venue.
At Makeup BLVD, we offer complimentary trials for all of our brides at our space in downtown Grand Rapids. When we have brides come from far away, we always do our best to accommodate their schedule, but being nearby helps!
2. Services
You also need to consider what you, and your pals, want to have done! Save time by visiting the artist's services page and looking for your #musthaves.
We offer airbrushing, lashes, and hair services for all of our clients.
Not all artists are trained in the same areas 🤷🏻♀️so it's crucial to make sure you're getting what you need when you #treatyourself to professional makeup! Your big day runs more smoothly when everyone is on the same page🙌🏼
3. Cost
Make sure you get an accurate quote before booking! This is crucial for a good experience—you don't want to be charged any hidden fees, and your artist doesn't want to bust your budget.
Makeup BLVD is proud of our transparent pricing! We always send our clients a quote before invoicing, and strive for open communication. This is especially crucial for brides! Be sure to run the cost past your wedding party before booking.
Most artists (MUB included) require a nonrefundable deposit to secure your spot, so make sure you know exactly what you're paying for 💸
4. Reviews
In this day and age, reviews are everything, especially when someone holds your beauty in their hands!
Be sure to check multiple sources for reviews—Google and Facebook are good places to start.
We have all of our reviews right on our website, but you can also find us on Google, Yelp, Thumbtack, and Facebook! #transparency is key 👏🏼
5. Portfolios
Similar to reviews, portfolios are key when it comes to booking the right artist!
Whether it's a social media page or on their website, never (and we mean never) book an artist who doesn't have a portfolio.
<— This is what happens when you don't check your makeup artist's portfolio!
Makeup BLVD has a convenient portfolio right on our website, but we also have several social media pages!
Follow our Instagram or Pinterest for examples of our work (& some major #makeupinspo), and check out our Facebook for more info and reviews.
